The Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe was C. S. Lewis's first story about Narnia, a magical alternate world that blends Christian and pagan concepts. In this episode, we discuss prophesy pitfalls, balk at the unexplored horror of returning to your child-body, and wonder if the moral of the story is that sometimes, kids, it is okay to kill people.

Hey! Friendly listener here to say I loved this ep (y'all are literally the only podcast I listen to these days) and that as a Narnia fan I can 1000% confirm that The Magician's Nephew (aka the prequel to this book) answers A LOT about what the witch's backstory is, what this deep magic stuff is, why are the animals named as they are, and what the heck the lamppost is doing there.
ReplyDelete[I can also confirm that the sequel book, Prince Caspian, does mention how the Penseives dealt with the age change- hint: childhood imagination is a glorious thing]
Still, keep on keeping on, and look forward to hearing the Sparks take in a couple weeks!
Thanks so much for letting us know! And thanks for listening, despite how obviously uninformed we are. :)
